Week 2: Fatshionista of the Week - Danielle “Danie” French
This week’s Fatshionista of the week is Danielle “Danie” French, a twenty-three year old Houston Texas native and a Fashion Merchandising major at Sam Houston State University.

Q: Describe your personal style:
A: A mix in between super chic and really boho-funky-esque
Q: What do you love about fashion?
A: I love that is it a form of self-expression. 90% of our communication as human beings is nonverbal and the way we dress can definitely play a role in that. I love to play around with different styles, and show my mood through my closet choices. It’s fun to always come up with something new.
Q: Describe your fashion sense in 4 words:
A: Comfy, Funky, Polished, Trendy
Q: What fashion item can you not do without?
A: Right now, it definitely is my army green anorak. I wear it with absolutely every and anything. It’s definitely become my quintessential everyday item.
Q: Do you have a fashion pet peeve, if so, what is it?
A: Ill-fitting clothing!! Working as a wardrobe stylist, there’s nothing that I detest more than the muffin top created from the “too small jeans.” And it’s amazing to me how it can easily be avoided. The Golden Rule Ladies, “Just because it fits you, doesn’t mean it flatters you”
Q: Let’s talk celebrities. Who would you say is the best-dressed lady in Hollywood these days?
A: Right now, I would have to put Solange Knowles at the top of my list. All of her pieces have great structure and she does an amazing job at mixing prints.
Q: Are there any particular fashion trends you love right now?
A: I’m falling in love with red all over again this season. That and florals, spring always brings out the super feminine side of me.
Q: Do you have any future plans with fashion?
A: Upon graduation, I like to start my own wardrobe stylist firm as well as continue to run my website.
Q: Aside from fashion, what else do you enjoy?
A: Natural hair and makeup! Lol.

Describe your personal style:
My style is real calm but edgy! I like to mix and match colors. I also enjoy different fabrics and patterns. Every so often I switch it up to my first pair of Jordan’s (bought in November), but that’s every now and then. Summer time I enjoy loafers, sandals and wedges. Winter time I love my sparkly UGGS, other boots and loafers. My style is very diverse. I usually dress according to how I’m feeling that morning!

What do you love about fashion?
When it comes to fashion I am all about colors, mixing and matching and funky patterns. I just enjoy playing dress up to figure out what I’m wearing that day.

Bomb. Funky. Daring. Fierce.

What fashion item can you not do without?
Um, that’s a tough one but the items I don’t think I can NOT live without are my shoes! I love shoes and every day of the week I try to wear a different pair.

Do you have a fashion pet peeve, if so, what is it?
I do and that is just getting up and throwing crazy, extra clothes on! I also hate to see people in the dingy t-shirts and dirty shoes! You should want to look good everywhere you go.

Let’s talk celebrities. Who would you say is the best-dressed lady in Hollywood these days?
I have a couple favorites but my top TWO are Rihanna and Solange Knowles. They both are very beautiful and I love the way the put outfits together.

Are there any particular fashion trends you love right now?
Not at the moment. I honestly never have a favorite fashion trend I just go in the store; I like it I’ll buy it!

Do you have any future plans with fashion?
I’m not sure, honestly. I want to do something with fashion but I also want to be a school teacher.

Aside from fashion, what else do you enjoy?
I enjoy traveling, hanging out with friends and family and of course SHOPPING!
